Merry Christmas!!

Well it is Christmas morning and the boys woke up all excited hoping Santa-paws had come to visit! They rushed upstairs barking and twirling like mad to see what Santa left! Being the generous little fellow, he left a bag filled with homemade doggie treats that Mrs. Santa-paws had made especially for them!

Their tummies are full and now they are working off their energy as we await our human family to arrive.

Wishing you and your family a happy holidays and a safe and prosperous New Year!!

Christmas Prep

So with Christmas just a few days aways preparations are well underway in our house. This year we are hosting 3 family events in our home – dinner on Christmas Eve, breakfast on Christmas Day and then dinner again later that day.

Since we want the house clean and tidy for all our guests the boys are getting baths – can’t have stinky boys mingling around!

Indie hasn’t gotten as much socialization as I would like so I think having all these people over is going to be great for him. He’s pretty good with people in the house however, it’s more meeting people on the street that makes him all crazy. Over the past 3 months he has come really far and I think once he starts going to doggie-day-camp with Travis he’ll really settle down when meeting “strangers”.

He’s been coming to all of Travis’ agility classes to observe – and to offer some distractions for Travis while he’s running his course. I appreciate all his effort because I guess that’s what competitions are going to be like – dogs (and owners) heckling the competition from the sidelines. I can’t say it phases either of use very much.

Right now were training with a local dog school but I am not sure we’re going to stay in the long run – agility is only part of what they do and the class schedule is a little inconvenient. It kind of sucks though because I like all the trainers so much there. We’ll see…

Anyways, I have to run the blow-dryer over Travis one last time before putting him in his crate for the night – don’t want him catching cold!

Gosh-darn it – I love them anyways…

We’re not just a 2 dog house hold – before the dogs there were…the cats.

Yes, we were cat people before the dogs, well my husband was a cat person and I had no choice (my how the tables have turned). There is only one problem with having 2 cats and 2 dogs in the house – one of them is eating something they shouldn’t, barfing up something they ate but shouldn’t have, chewing something they shouldn’t (where do they find this stuff anyways?) or inflicting injuries upon each other.

This morning it was barf – it appeared to only contain cat food (no forign onjects are always a plus) but it is uncertain who the culpret is.

I am happy to say that this week was a good week – only one piddle inside, one barf and one destroyed sock. However, it is only Friday and we’re off to the dog park!

Seasons Greetings!!

Welcome to the blog! I hope to be able to share with you the ups and (hopefully not to many) downs of not only dog ownership but also our journey from agility beginners to seasons pro’s! Well, maybe I am setting my hopes a little high – but thats when things get the most interesting.

Right now Indie and Travis are chasing each other around the back yard in 12″ of fresh snow, the first real accumulation of the year – Indie’s first real snow too!

The thought just struck me that I haven’t trimmed their feet in a few weeks so I am more than sure that there are some snowballs forming betwee their toes as I write. On with the not so glamorous…but at least it isn’t baby poop. :)
